Dr. McGee:
Hi, I'm Selina McGee, the founder of Bespoke Vision in Edmond, Oklahoma.

Dr. McGee is a paid consultant of Bausch & Lomb.
Dr. McGee:
I'd like to walk you through how I talk to patients with dry eye disease about MIEBO. When I introduce MIEBO, I tell patients, "I'm going to have you use this drop 4 times a day." And I always like to give some directions.
And so, I will simply say, “Use it at breakfast, lunch, dinner, and bedtime.” And one thing I really like to tell patients is the fact that this drop is really tiny.
It's different from most other drops that they've historically used, because this doesn't have water in it.

Drop size is 11 μL. Other drops containing water may have a drop size of 35 μL to 50 μL.
Dr. McGee:
This drop is 100% perfluorohexyloctane, which is the active ingredient in the molecule that helps keep your tears from evaporating. So, when you put this on the front surface of your eye, you may not even feel it.

The exact mechanism of action of MIEBO in dry eye disease is not known.
Dr. McGee:
And a lot of patients will actually tell me that if they do feel it, it feels really silky. To administer the medication, I'll tell them, “Draw a bit of air into the bottle by gently squeezing the bottle, turning it upside down and then releasing the pressure.”

TIPS FOR PATIENTS
Look at the tip of the MIEBO bottle when you drop it in. Use a mirror to help place MIEBO in your eye. Only use MIEBO as directed.
Dr. McGee:
Now that the bottle is upside down with a bit of air in it, place it above your eye and gently squeeze again to release the drop into your eye. This way you just get one drop at a time and your prescription is going to last you for your full 30 days.
